As human beings, our reality is currently on the planet earth. Living in this world which can be as peaceful as a sunset, as majestic as a mountain waterfall and as violent and destructive as a tornado. The only thing we can be certain about is that we as humans will experience it all.
The same unpredictable behavior seems to exist in people. We can not control the behaviors others any more that we can control the weather.
We can however choose what we expose ourselves to. You may know many people but yet resonate with only a small group of friends. We are drawn to those that seem to resonate at the same vibration as we do or are living from a higher vibration that we aspire to. This is natural and how we constantly expand ourselves and each other.
There of course can be bad influences as well and these choices to follow our instincts or not can have a direct effect on our growth and expansion as humans, toward or away from our divine birthright.
One of the influences I have found to be most detrimental is our exposue to the media. While it may not have always been this way, the media is intensely focused on the worst events, people, and natural disasters. The sponsors of the media know that people can be drawn in by these kinds of dramas, and more eyes and attention means more money. There is no consideration that being constantly bombarded with negative things happening in the world that we have no control over, leaves us feeling powerless and depressed.
I had a converation about this today with a guy I met in line at Starbucks. (Long story as to how we got on this topic) but he believed that people are drawn to these things to avoid facing issues in their own lives. Maybe seeing others make bad decisions allow us to feel better about our own. I’m sure there are many other reasons as well but I am going to suggest something here that made a huge impact on my life and wellbeing.
Drop out of all of it. Stop watching the news. Stop paying attention to every fear based threat. Stop paying attention to what any celebrity or politician might say or do.
Taking your attention away from fear based threats and cynical opinions will liberate you in significant ways leaving space for you to discern what is really important in your life. What do YOU want to put your attention on? What is worth your focus?
We have always had the ability to see this world as heaven or hell. Where do you want to live? What do you want to expose yourself to?
The activities of the outside world are never going to lead you to your true self, any more that your own opinions or judgements will.
To hear our own true voices, we need to turn off the static. Become quiet, listening to the voice in your heart. The voice that is always there moment to moment but is behind the noise of the world, the chattering mind, the anxiety of the future and regrets of the past.
Do we need to ignore issues that are important to us? Not at all, but just like a heated conversation, we need to be able to respond in a way that is positive and effective. We need to be guided by our hearts. Guided by compassion and guided by love.
As we let go of the useless information we’ve been subconciously absorbing, that true voice becomes more clear and eventually it is not the background, but the foreground moment to moment in your life.
It in this way that you not only expand your own consciousness, but expand those around you as well. Natural expressions in creativity, joy and a deep understanding of others becomes your viewpoint. You begin to see your own divine nature, and gaze in wonder at this life, this universe and this heaven.
Shine the brilliant light that you are!
Paul
